Reported Reason For Damian Priest’s WWE Absence (Updated)

Fans haven’t seen much of Damian Priest as of late, but it’s because he’s reportedly dealing with a back injury.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Priest is currently injured and has been given time off to recover. It was noted that Priest is having back issues prior to the WrestleMania Backlash match against The Miz, but now he’s being given time to rest.

Update: Fightful Select is reporting that when asking about a status update on Priest, the claim that he’s injured was denied. It was noted that Fightful was told Priest could be back as soon as next week, if creative had something planned for him. It was said that Priest’s absence was due to “other, undisclosed reasons.”

Priest worked the Lumberjack match (most infamously remembered for the zombies) against Miz, and his last match came the following night in another Lumberjack Match against John Morrison on RAW. Despite not being seen on RAW in a month, Priest has still been present during at least one WWE TV taping. Priest noted he was at the June 8 NXT taping, taking the meaning of “live tweeting” to a new level.
