AEW Dynamite Results (5/28/21)

Tonight on AEW Dynamite it is the “go-home” show to Double or Nothing and in store for the show is a weigh-in between Cody Rhodes and Anthony Ogogo. Plus, Miro defends his TNT Championship against Dante Martin and The Inner Circle will be joined by Eric Bischoff. Commentary: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone & Excalibur

MATCH 1

Darby Allin (with Sting) vs. Cezar Bononi

Darby comes out with taped ribs. The lower house is packed and Cezar starts on the offensive. Darby goes for the Fujiwa armbar but Bononi knees him down. Slam by Cezar. Darby finds himself writhing in pain on the entryway. He tosses Darby back in. Big “Darby” chants. Bononi goes for a suplex, but Allin rolls over and locks in a sleeper with some extra stuff like covering the nose. It’s until Aubrey makes him break it. Darby nails a filpping stunner from up top. Downs Bononi for a Coffin Drop for the 1-2-3.

WINNER: Darby Allin

Post-match, Darby grabs a mic and calls out Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky to settle this tonight. Ethan and Sky come out, but they aren’t gonna come out and fight them in their “fancies.” Grow up. They’re gonna fight them on the big stage. Sunday will be the end of one legend, and the beginning of two more. Nemeth, JD Drake and Cezar attack Darby and Sting from behind. Page and Sky come back to pick the bones, but Dark Order comes out for the save and send the bad guys running.

Paul Wight comes out for the weigh-in and hypes up the crowd. Anthony Ogogo is introduced first and he comes out with The Factory. QT Marshall runs down Jacksonville before Wight introduces Cody Rhodes. He comes out with Nightmare Family students and legit family. Cody strips down to his skivvies and stands on the scale. Wight fiddles with the scale and announces Rhodes at 218. Ogogo next. Fireworks are going off and “USA” is being chanted. He’s got Union Jack underwear on. Ogogo weighs in at 219. QT Marshall gets on the mic and gloats that Ogogo is heavier. The Nightmare Family finally sends The Factory off.

There’s a video package hyping the Stadium Stampede bout.

Backstage, Powerbouse Hobbs and Christian Cage are brawling it out backstage and Cage hits Hobbs hard with a stanchion. Officials come in to break it up.

MATCH 2

Hangman Page vs. Joey Janela (with Sonny Kiss)

Taz is on commentary and the two men go back and forth. Joey chops Hangman in the corner and Hangman retaliates. Joey does too, but Page literally chops him off his feet. Hangman tosses Joey out of the ring. Joey fights back and leaps off the apron, but Adam tosses Bad Boy with a fallaway slam. “Hangman” chants. Back in the ring, Hangman covers for two. Joey hits a jawbreaker and tosses Adam face first into the corner. We go to break.

Back from it, both men battle it out on the apron. Leaping lariat from Hangman. Soon after, Adam hits a Ron Simmons spinebuster for a two count. Hangman goes for the Deadeye, but Joey rolls over and grabs the tights for a two count. Hangman bleeding from the mouth after two tough right hands. He downs Hangman and hits his diving elbow drop from up top. 1-2-no.

Joey goes for a DVD, but Hangman hits him with two spinning forearms and pop-up powerbombs him. Hangman bleeds from the head as he hits The Buckshot Lariat for the victory.

WINNER: Hangman Page

Post-match, Taz gets on the mic and introduces him to Brian Cage. Page tells Taz to shut the hell up. Hangman is really bleeding as he knows what’s coming. He expected the extra help from Team Taz.  He calls out Cage for it and tells Cage to leave “these assholes” out of it and fight him like a man. Cage is fired up and accepts that. “Who better than Cage? Nobody.”

Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley are literally burying “Rod & Todd Flanders'” Diors. They may be a better tag team then them, but they’re a couple of pitbulls. Eddie says they’re going to win cause The Bucks turned their back on the fans.  “The pressure’s coming. The pressure’s coming.”

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to introduce Orange Cassidy, but out comes PAC. He tells Tony to “get out.” Boos. He’s here to tell us all that Orange Cassidy is irrelevant. The only man that matters the man who’s going to beat Kenny Omega – “Me! The Bastard!” He calls Kenny pathetic and calls him out. Don Callis addresses him from the big screen to distract him and Kenny comes from behind with his belt, but PAC scouts it and kicks Kenny down. The Good Brothers come out but then so do the Lucha Bros to even the odds.  Bad guys bail as Kenny and PAC are left alone. Kenny attacks and looks to hit the OWA on PAC, but out comes Orange Cassidy with The Best Friends.  He presents a note. “Freshly squeezed” chants as Kenny pulls out a shredded contract. Orange Punch by Cassidy. He goes to pick uup the title but PAC steps on it and attacks Orange. He gets socked with an Orange Punch. Crowd pops.

Back from break Jade Cargill is with Matt Hardy and Tony. He says how he wants to win the Casino Battle Royale and Hardy offers his services to Jade. In comes Mark Sterling who reveals he signed Jade.

MATCH 3

Jade Cargill (with Mark Sterling) vs. KiLynn King

Jade patronizingly claps for King as the bell rings. Test of strength. She kicks KiLynn in the gut. another one. She has Jade in a fallaway position and she does some curls with KiLynn before slamming her down. Break time.

Back from it, Jade remains in the driver’s seat ashe dumps King to the outside. Sterling offers his business card to King who takes a swing at him. Jade slams her skull off the apron and throws her back in the ring. Jade hits her black widow finisher for the 1-2-3.

WINNER: Jade Cargill

Jake Roberts is backstage with Lance Archer. The Snake talks up Dante a bit, but Archer makes it clear he wants Miro.

MATCH 4

AEW TNT Championship

Dante Martin vs. Miro (c)

Bell rings and “Miro’s gonna kill you” chants. He batters Dante in the corner. Release belly-to-belly. Kick to the back of Dante. “One more time” chants but Miro doesn’t oblige. Miro goes for a head throw on the mat, but Dante avoids. Dante kicks him on the apron. Springboard moonsault for a one count. He follows up with a shotgun dropkick. Another cover for just one. Big time brainbuster by Miro, thrust kick and then Game Over. He taps.

WINNER and STILL TNT Champion: Miro

Jake comes out and tells Miro his fairy tale comes to an end. They don’t play fairy tales.  Archer is pacing like a madman. Miro tells Jake to shut up. Lance comes in the two brawl it out but officials come in as Archer gets a parting shot in.

Tony Schiavone introduces Hikaru Shida to celebrate her one-year anniversary as Women’s Champion. A new gold belt is presented to her. She gets on the mic and thanks the fans and notes that this belt is for them. Britt Baker comes out and congratulates Shida for this being her year. Britt said she wants to take back that she was “the face of the women’s division” she wants to be the face of a whole new era. As the previous era was all about “3:16” this will be all about “DMD.” Literal mic drop.

MATCH 5

Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky vs. Dark Order (Stu Grayson & Evil Uno)

Uno and Sky start it all off. “Evil Uno” chants. Sky and Uno trade armbars. Grayson gets tagged in and hits a leaping DDT on the apron to Sky as Ethan stands astounded. Page is isolated. Grayson hits a springboard senton on the apron to Page but Sky sweeps the leg. Cutter to Grayson by Sky in the ring,

Back from break, Sky goes for a TKO, but Grayson reverses it and spikes SKy down. Backflipping kick by Grayson. Uno gets tagged and nails a beauty of a hurricanrana on Page. Flatliner to Sky.

Dark Order nail some sweet double teams, but Grayson gets caught in Sky’s heel hook while Page hits and Ego Edge on Uno. 1-2-3.

WINNERS: Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky

Post match, Page talks trash on the mic and out comes Darby with a bunch of Stings. Sky goes to slug one of them and he unmasks to be the actual Sting. The bad guys bail.

Eric Bischoff comes out to MC the celebration of Inner Circle. He notes the 25 year anniversary of a faction that he helped formulate. Now he’s introducing the Inner Circle. Everyone singing “Judas.” Jericho says it feels so good to be surrounded by fans again. He notes that he has made amends with Eric and thanks him for everything. Eric thanks him too and then introduces a video package highlighting the history of Inner Circle.

Santana gets on the mic after and notes how much they changed the history of AEW. He notes that now they’re standing with the best fans today. He says if this indeed is the last time they stand together, then he couldn’t be happier to stand all together. Ortiz tells him that was beautiful. Instead of seeing the good times, Hager wants to see the hard times. Sammy gets on the mic and says how much has changed. He notes his former panda head life. He notes leaving the IC and wants to amend that. Sammy says if they lose, that he’s not going down without a fight. Jericho gets on the mic and cuts an intense promo, references Guns N Roses. He then closes it out by saying he loves them. Suddenly MJF and Wardlow are on the big screen and in the stadium. MJF presents a beaten and tied Dean Malenko to the goalpost. The IC goes to save him but it’s an orchestrated attack by The Pinnacle.Spears beats Sammy with a chair As Max downs Jericho. FTR piledrive Santana and Ortiz through tables off of the stands. That’s the end of the show.
