Scorpio Sky Isn’t Chasing The Tag Titles With Ethan Page, But They’ll ‘Swing At’ Them If They Get A Shot

Scorpio Sky’s run in All Elite Wrestling has been injected with new energy since the former AEW World Tag Team Champion teamed up with Ethan Page.

The duo has enjoyed some early success together, but the two stars will have the chance to pick up a major win on Sunday. They’re set to face Darby Allin and “The Icon” Sting at AEW Double or Nothing.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet ahead of the event, Sky described his view of his partnership with Page, calling it an alliance of two singles stars rather than a traditional tag team. He also noted that their collective goal isn’t winning the AEW World Tag Team Championship, but he wouldn’t shy away from the chance to recapture the gold.

“I like to think of us as two singles wrestlers teaming rather than a tag team,” said Sky. “I don’t necessarily think the tag team titles are our goal. You know obviously if we get there, we’ll wrestle for them.

“But we kind of have a common goal of conquering, getting TV time, getting the respect we deserve, and hopefully one of us getting the TNT Championship at some point. But if it leads to a tag title shot, obviously we’ll swing at that.”

Throughout Sky’s association with Page, the former SCU member has come across as a dastardly heel. Sky, often viewed as a babyface, shared his mindset on his heel run by saying he’s having fun showing a new side of himself. He also admitted that, in some ways, his genuine “nice guy” personality makes it easy to be a heel nowadays.

“It’s so much more fun being the bad guy, you know,” Sky explained. “It’s weird because people look at me and go, ‘Oh, he’s a natural babyface, he’s a nice guy,’ blah blah blah. But at the same time, everyone has different sides to them and yeah, I am a legitimately really nice guy, which kind of makes you a bad guy in this day and age.

“People don’t like the nice guy sometimes. And so it’s very easy for me to go out there and smile and know like, yeah, I’m a better athlete than most of the guys I’m gonna be in the ring with. And I’m better than most of the guys I’m gonna be in the ring with. I’m going to go out there, and I’m going to outperform everyone that is across the ring from me, so you can’t take that away from me.”
