Bronson Reed Wants To Elevate The North American Title, Team Up With Rhea Ripley In Australia

NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed’s title reign is barely a week old, but he has some remarkable goals for his run with the gold.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Reed explained that he wants to make the title just as important as the NXT Championship. He compared this goal to the prominence the ECW World Television Championship enjoyed under Rob Van Dam.

“I am such a different performer, so I hope I bring something to the championship that others haven’t,” said Reed. “Also, earlier we mentioned the Rob Van Dam run with the ECW [World] Television title—that’s what I am looking to accomplish. Not so much the lengthiness of his run, though that would be incredible, but he elevated that championship to be almost the main title. That’s how I want people to see the North American championship.

“If this title is being defended on the same night as the NXT title, I hope people want to see this title defended more. That’s what I want to do for this belt.”

Reed also discussed the growing number of successful Australian wrestlers in WWE. Along with WWE RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, Reed is one of the most reccognizable Australians on the roster. In the interview, he pitched a potential mixed tag team match where he and Ripley could team up in front of their countrymen when WWE goes “down under” again.

“I can’t wait to return to my homeland and wrestle on the big stage in front of fans, family, and performers,” said Reed. “I’d be down for an intergender tag match where I get to tag with Rhea Ripley. That’s something we both want to do, and maybe it will happen in the future.”
