ROH Wrestling Results (5/24/21): Mike Bennett & Matt Taven Challenge For Tag Titles, Rocky Romero In Action

Flip Gordon comes to the ring and says he’s done waiting for his world title shot. He calls out the champion, RUSH and challenges him to a fight. But EC3 responds instead of RUSH. He walks to the ring and stares Gordon down. EC3 then delivers a simple message.

“You have been warned,” EC3 says. He then walks to the back.

In a promo, The Foundation (Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams) preview their title match. Jay Lethal informs the champions of Taven’s injury, and they agree that they should move the match. But Lethal credits Taven’s toughness and argues that it speaks to the importance of the gold. Titus and Williams agree and prepare for the match.

ROH World Tag Team Championship: The Foundation (Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams) (c) vs. The OGK (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) 

The two teams shake hands before the match begins. Bennett and Williams start off as the legal men, and they exchange technical holds. “Hot Sauce” wrenches Bennett’s leg, but he frees himself. Bennett takes Williams to the mat, and The OGK double-teams the former ROH World Television Champion. Taven grounds Williams, but “The Trend” tweaks his knee. He quickly leaves to the ring and takes a minute to recover.

The OGK maintains the advantage by isolating Titus. The champions rally and rock Taven with some tag team maneuvers. Williams targets Taven’s injured leg to take control of the match. Likewise, Titus focuses on the leg and prevents him from tagging Bennett. The champions continue to gang up on Taven, but he drills Williams with the “Just The Tip” knee to the face. Bennett tags in and rallies by chopping Titus and Williams. He then plants Williams with a Hammerlock DDT.

Bennett catches Titus and slams him to the mat in a fireman’s carry position. Taven gets a two count after Bennett spears Titus. The former world champion tweaks his knee again, and Williams drops him with a clothesline. He takes Taven down to the mat with a single-arm throw from the second rope. Once Bennett tags in, Williams locks him in a sleeper hold. Taven rallies with a face-lock on “Hot Sauce,” but Williams escapes by dumping Williams over his head.

Bennett tags in and puts Williams in an ankle lock while he has Taven locked in a Crossface. “Hot Sauce” escapesand drops Bennett with a clothesline. Titus plants Taven with a Fameasser, and Bennett superkicks Titus as the match picks up speed. Williams and Bennett lock Taven and Titus in submission holds. They they drop both men with simultaneous piledrivers.

The two legal men then trade strikes. Taven sneaks up behind Williams and tries to steal the win with a roll-up. Williams locks in a submission to further wound Taven’s ankle. Titus suplexes Bennett to send him out of the ring. Taven misses a diving strike and lands on his compromised knee. A flurry of strikes from Titus and a piledriver from Williams is enough to earn the champions the win.

Winners and still ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Foundation

After the match, Taven expressed his frustration. Suddenly, Vincent appears on the video screen, mocking Taven’s catchphrase, seemingly suggesting that he was the one who attacked the former champion.
