Report: Chris Jericho Dealing With Elbow Injury, Out 4-6 Weeks

It looks like Chris Jericho‘s Blood & Guts fall resulted in a legitimate elbow injury.

According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Chris Jericho suffered a dislocated elbow after his fall from the top of the cage at the conclusion of the Blood & Guts match on May 5. It was speculated that he could still work the Stadium Stampede match based on what happened on television this week, but he’s “otherwise” expected to miss four-to-six weeks of ring time.

It’s worth noting that the AEW commentary team referred to the large brace Jericho was wearing on this week’s show and said he’d suffered a dislocated elbow. To date, Jericho’s only public comments about the match came on the latest episode of his Talk Is Jericho podcast. Jericho spoke in-depth about some behind-the-scenes details of the Blood & Guts match, including the fall off of the cage, how it was planned out and the reception to it.

Jericho explained that he overshot the spot, but still thought it looked amazing when he watched it back. He addressed people saying it didn’t look great, adding that it was a small percentage of fans that didn’t like it, but he otherwise got great feedback on it.

“Everyone in the business knows how dangerous this can be and how terrifying it is and the margin for error is slim. You have the right to bag on it. Out of the 1.3 million who watched, if 3,000 people didn’t like it, that’s a very small percentage. Most people thought it was crazy and I got great feedback,” Jericho said. “I hope you enjoyed it because you’ll never see me do it again. I’m glad it turned out the way it did. I wouldn’t change anything.”

This year’s Stadium Stampede match was proposed by The Pinnacle on the May 12 episode of Dynamite. The match is not official (yet) but the Inner Circle would have to split up if they lose the match.
