Kushida Survives Two-Out-Three Falls Match To Retain Cruiserweight Title Against Santos Escobar

Kushida continues to show his strong will and resiliency as he retained his NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Santos Escobar. Escobar’s Legado del Fantasma got disposed of courtesy of MSK at the beginning of the 2-out-3 falls bout and made it a pure singles contest between the competitors. Escobar secured the first point by hitting Kushida with his Phantom Driver for the pinfall, but as we headed to break, Kushida locked in an armbar center ring to cause Escobar to quickly submit.

Then after the break it was all back and forth, but Kushida had a gameplan that included a focus on Escobar’s shoulder. Kushida rolled Escobar off the top rope for a Hoverboard lock, but Santos stretched himself to the ropes. It all ended when Kushida delivered a bridging suplex that put pressure on the shoulder and secure the champion with the 1-2-3. The entire episode ended with Kushida standing tall staring down his opponent who was certainly put over has hard fought.
