Charlotte Flair On Being ‘The Opportunity’: I Don’t Need To Hold A Championship To Be The Champion

Charlotte Flair is the champion, whether she has gold around her waist or not.

Charlotte was a guest on WWE’s The Bump on Wednesday and talked about her status in WWE and the new moniker of “The Opportunity” she’s been using recently. Charlotte said there’s plenty of people with an opinion about her, but she realized that she needs to embrace it and put a spin on what’s being said about her by her detractors.

“I think every opinion, I’m just going to take and I don’t know… I don’t know how to properly say it,” Charlotte explained, “but that’s this idea of being ‘The Opportunity’ is everyone’s saying ‘Oh, she takes everyone’s opportunities!’ so you just spin it and you put some truth into it. ‘Well yes, because I am The Opportunity.’”

Flair was also asked if she feels like she’s bigger than the recognized championships in WWE. While she said she “[doesn’t] want to diminish what the championships mean”, Flair does see herself as a champion, whether she has gold or not.

“I don’t want to say bigger, but I don’t need to hold a championship to be the champion,” Flair said. “I don’t know how else you say it. You don’t need to be a face of the division to hold the gold.”

When asked who she has a bigger beef with between Asuka and Rhea Ripley, Charlotte said both, but also called out Ripley for stealing her spot at WrestleMania.

“Both simultaneously, but that snake [Rhea Ripley] took my match at WrestleMania. That snake! They all talk about each other,” she said, “but she took my spot!”
