The Bella Twins Describe The Difficulties Of Writing A Shortened WWE Hall Of Fame Speech

Nikki and Brie Bella, also known as The Bella Twins, will officially be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6. This year’s ceremony will be quite unique, as both the 2020 and the 2021 classes will be recognized.

WWE might have to make some changes to the ceremony, which could explain why the Bella Twins shared that they had to significantly trim their induction speech.

On the latest episode of The Bellas Podcast, Nikki and Brie discussed the challenges that this change have caused. They explained that it’s impossible to both thank people and fully look back on one’s career in such a short speech.

“We had a speech written, but then we realized it was too long because we’re only allowed to do now our speech for five minutes, three-to-five [minutes],” said Brie. “So we wrote a 15-minute speech because usually they’re like 10-15 minutes. Then we found out, not too long ago, no, it has to be three to five. To do your Hall of Fame speech and take out that much stuff is really hard.

“And we’re like how do we condense this? What’s so important, what’s this, what’s that? We want to thank all these people, but we also want to tell stories. It’s just so much, and it’s just blowing my mind.”

Nikki added by explaining that most of their speech had initially been focused on the people who helped the sisters became Hall of Famers.

“We’ve always been very grateful women, and I think that’s where it’s difficult is, the majority of our speech is thanking people, and they’re like, ‘Talk more about yourselves,'” said Nikki. “And it’s like I feel like, we’ve already proved ourselves, becoming Hall of Famers.”

Brie also explained how her husband, WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan, helped her focus on the positives in what has been a stressful preparation process.

“Bryan was like. ‘Stop putting so much pressure on yourself right now,'” said Brie. “He goes, ‘You’re getting inducted into the Hall of Fame, just go have fun.’ And I was just like, ‘Gosh, you’re right.'”
