WWE And NBCUniversal Comment On Peacock Editing Out Controversial Content

WWE has finally commented on how Peacock has been streaming edited versions of its content.

WWE and NBCUniversal are both quoted in an article by Maria Cramer of The New York Times, which explores the controversy surrounding this modified content.

Per Cramer, NBCUniversal stated that the material is being reviewed “to ensure it aligns with Peacock’s standards and practices.”

WWE issued a similar statement in the article.

“’Peacock and WWE are reviewing all past content to ensure it fits our 2021 standards,’” said WWE.

Earlier this month, Peacock subscribers noticed that the WWE programming on the streaming service has been altered. Questionable moments, like Vince McMahon saying the “n” word in 2005 and Roddy Piper wearing black paint on half of his face at WrestleMania 6, have been edited out of their respective shows. Peacock has subsequently made it clear that the entire library of WWE content was under review for similar segments.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
