Renee Paquette Hopes To See CM Punk Return To The Ring, Says Wrestling Is What Makes Him Tick

Renee Paquette hopes to see CM Punk back in the wrestling ring someday.

Renee Paquette is one of the few names in wrestling that has interviewed CM Punk since his departure in 2014. CM Punk even returned to WWE programming alongside Renee as hosts of WWE Backstage on FS1.

Even though Renee understands why CM Punk left professional wrestling, she is hopeful that he will return not only for the audience but because she believes that professional wrestling is what makes CM Punk tick at his core. Speaking with Metro in the UK, she explained that she hopes to see the former WWE Champion return to the squared circle one day.

“I think it would be an absolute shame if he did not come back. Like you said, that passion is still there! He’s a wrestler! He is a wrestler through and through. Whether he was busy doing movies or TV shows or other aspirations that he has, I think at the end of the day wrestling is the thing that makes that guy tick. I think for him to not come back in some capacity, whatever creative he ends up working out that he really wants to do – I think ultimately, that’s what it would come down to for him, is finding that great creative.”

She added, “Paychecks are nice too, but really I think it’s just being able to tell the stories that you wanna be able to tell,” she pondered. “He’s got lots that he could serve up to both promotions – WWE or AEW. But people would lose their minds to see him come back, so let’s hope that he doesn’t have too much dust on those boots.”

WrestleZone recently spoke with Paquette about her new podcast, Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, and the migration to Colin Cowherd’s The Volume network. Paquette pointed out that she still has a strong connection to the wrestling business (it’s her ‘bread and butter’ and she still follows the work of her husband, Jon Moxley), but she also wants to explore other avenues and has found early success with Oral Sessions. The podcast itself does feature wrestlers as guests, but the title and format is more focused on having conversations, and it’s something she wants to explore more in the future.

“We’re all so multifaceted, there’s a million other things that I wanna do. I’ve got a cookbook coming out, I’ve got the podcast that I’ve started, and as much as that started out as ‘we’ve got a lot of wrestlers on’,” Paquette explained, “I want to have MMA fighters, I wanna have other athletes, I want to have on people from all different walks of life. When I came up with the idea of the show called Oral Sessions, it was about having conversations. It’s not necessarily about just wrestling, so that’s something I want to tap into.”Check out the full interview below:
