Shane McMahon tricked Elias into taking his place at WWE Fastlane.
After McMahon suffered an apparent injury earlier in the day, he brought Elias out to the ring at the pay-per-view. Elias was under the impression he’d be performing a musical concert. Instead, McMahon told him he’d be facing Braun Strowman in his scheduled match.

Strowman dominated the match and easily overpowered Elias. But a distraction from Jaxson Ryker helped Elias take control.

Still, Strowman easily defeated Elias and walked away from the evening dissatisfied that McMahon didn’t get these hands.
