When AEW Dynamite hosts its St. Patrick’s Day Slam episode this week, it will feature a historic match, as Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker will face off in the first main event featuring women in the show’s history.
Speaking during the latest episode of SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Thunder Rosa discussed the match, and was happy to see herself and Baker getting the respect she thinks they deserve. “I always thought, in great storytelling and great movies, you really need a really good babyface, and you really need a really good heel,” she said. “Batman and the Joker, for example, they complement each other. I think Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa complement each other, and we need each other, we need each other to murder each other.”
Thunder Rosa went on to talk about how she thinks the women’s division in All Elite Wrestling needs a match like this to happen, to finally push the division even further. “I think at this point at AEW, in the women’s division, they need something like this to happen for people to really understand that we deserve respect. Regardless of what everybody says, like ‘Yes, you guys are great,” this and that, it doesn’t matter. Let us do our thing, let us show you guys that we can perform, that we can and we should be on main events. We should have time on national television, I’ve been showing myself and my partners, whoever’s in the ring with me when we are on Dynamite, that we can do it. So it’s time, and it couldn’t be a better time for me to do this, and I am so blessed.”
