Hikaru Shida’s lengthy World Women’s Championship reign continues.

At AEW Revolution, Hikaru Shida successfully defended the title against Ryo Mizunami.

The challenger won the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament to earn this opportunity. Shida maintained control of the match throughout the first several minutes.

At one point, she dropped Mizunami with a deadlift suplex for a two count. But the challenger rallied with a flurry of offense.

Shida fired back with some stiff strikes to earn some breathing room. The competitors traded blows, and Mizunami hit a leg drop for a two count. Shida persevered with a Falcon Arrow and two nasty knees to the head. Another Falcon Arrow earned the champion a two count. Shida poked Mizunami in the eyes, but the challenger still managed to roll her up for a near fall.

In the end, Shida hit one last stiff strike and stacked Mizunami up to pin her for the win.

After the bell, Nyla Rose attacked both competitors. Shida tried to fend her off, but Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Maki Itoh attacked Shida and her challenged. Thunder Rosa made the save and cleared the villainous trio from the ring.
