Big E Had To Learn To Trust Himself Before Finding Success In WWE

Big E wasn’t always the household name in wrestling that he is today. Starting out, the WWE Intercontinental Champion had to grind to get where he is today, and in a new episode of WWE Grit & Glory, the superstar sat down with Samoa Joe to discuss his rise to the top and what it took to get there.

“For me, it was a matter of finding my voice,” Big E said. “Finding what felt authentic for me. I know for the first several years of my career, I thought I had to be this big tough guy, but in a world where you have guys who are taller and bigger, that role was already filled. So for me, it was a matter of finding what feels authentic to you, what stands out, and it was my time with the New Day that allowed me to be free, allowed me to be uninhibited, and I just learned to trust myself, to trust my instincts, and to be unafraid. And that’s what allowed me to still be here, to have the career that I have now.”

Clearly, Big E’s time with the New Day was transformative not only for him, but for the group and for WWE as a whole. As he embarks on his new journey as a solo champion, Big E hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from, nor does he seem ready to ever go back to not being himself.
