Cesaro Reportedly Agrees To Terms On New WWE Deal, Original Plans For Him On SmackDown

Cesaro is sticking with WWE.

According to F4WOnline‘s Dave Meltzer, Cesaro agreed to a new WWE contract that will keep him with the company for the foreseeable future. It was noted that the Swiss Superman either “signed or verbally agreed to a new deal a few weeks ago.”

It was also noted that had he signed a new deal at an earlier time, he would have been seen in a high-profile role on a recent episode of WWE SmackDown. The gauntlet match that Adam Pearce won on Smackdown last month saw a big babyface performance by Shinsuke Nakamura, but that spot was originally supposed to go Cesaro.

Meltzer noted that Daniel Bryan came up with the idea of the match, where the good guy would run through the match and get screwed over at the end by Roman Reigns, and he wanted Cesaro in that spot. Since Cesaro hadn’t signed yet, the decision was made to plug in Nakamura instead.
