Goldberg On Criticism By Young Wrestlers: I Hope Karma Comes Back To Bite Them In The Ass

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg doesn’t care about criticism anymore. In fact, the WCW icon believes that no one else could perform at his level as a 54-year-old.

Goldberg recently appeared on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves, and he shared his thoughts on the negativity that tends to follow his WWE returns these days.

“When legends came in when I was in the business, in the beginning, I was greatly appreciative of the eyes they brought to our product,” said Goldberg. “And one day, those young kids are gonna be in the position just like me, and I hope that karma comes back to bite them in the ass, that’s all I can say. Because at 54 years old, I don’t know one of them that could be doing what I’m doing.”

Later in the interview, Goldberg offered his stance on how he feels about the fans’ criticism of his work rate.

“I have a standard that I set myself to,” said Goldberg. “And I have to be realistic in what I can provide to my opponent, to the company, to the people, and so if I’m cool with it myself, I don’t give a damn what anybody says….I want to satiate the crowd, I want to make them happy, but at the end of the day, they certainly don’t drive my life. There’s no doubt about that.”

Goldberg also agreed with The Undertaker’s controversial view that WWE is “soft.” The former WWE Universal Champion also pointed out that the wrestling industry has had to change as the world continues to evolve.

“I believe comparatively the business is soft,” said Goldberg. “But the business is in 2021, so things have to change and things have to be different. Mega superstars that are bigger than life, it’s hard in this generation seemingly to build those people.”

Finally, Goldberg addressed the promo he delivered on his return to WWE RAW earlier this year. Many fans were unhappy with how Goldberg targeted Drew McIntyre’s disrespect. In retrospect, the WCW icon stated that he used the opportunity to speak to the entire roster.

“I think mainly, when I was talking to Drew in the beginning, I was speaking to the locker room,” said Goldberg. “I was speaking to everybody, and he’s the leader, right, so you gotta go to the leader, and you gotta make sure that everything is taken care of in the right way.”

Goldberg will officially try to challenge McIntyre’s leadership this weekend, as the two stars will clash at WWE Royal Rumble.
