Adam Pearce Says He’s Injured, Inserts Kevin Owens As His Replacement At Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman had been trying to get Adam Pearce to sign a contract for their Royal Rumble match throughout the entirety of tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown. However, when Pearce finally did, he pulled a bit of a move on Reigns, substituting himself out of the match in place of Kevin Owens.

At the end of the night, Pearce met Reigns in the ring to sign the contract for their match, which will be a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Universal Championship. After signing the contract, however, Pearce said that he was waiting all night for Reigns to agree to the match, before leaving the ring and suddenly getting hurt while walking up the ramp.

Pearce attributed the sudden injury to his leg, and said that as per the rules in any standard WWE contract, it would be up to Pearce to find a suitable replacement for him at Royal Rumble. Thankfully, Pearce said, he had someone in mind, before introducing none other than Kevin Owens, who came out and promptly signed the contract to give himself yet another shot at Roman Reigns.
