The women’s WarGames match opened the show at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Team Shotzi (Rhea Ripley, Ember Moon, Shotzi Blackheart, and NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai) faced Team Candice (Dakota Kai, Candice LeRae, Raquel González, and Toni Storm) in a star-studded battle. Blackheart rode to the stage in her new tank.

Kai and Moon started the match as the first two competitors. They were evenly matched, but Moon gained the upper hand when she suplexed Kai into the cage. Kai took control, but Blackheart entered the match. She brought a crowbar and a toolbox into the ring.

Blackheart took the fight to Kai, but González entered the match and evened the odds. Moon and Blackheart double-teamed her, but she overpowered them. She powerbombed Blackheart into the cage. Team Candice gained the advantage again. Ripley charged to the ring and immediately clashed with González.

Ripley took a hammer out of the toolbox and brutally hit Kai with it. She brawled with González, but Storm entered the ring with some kendo sticks. She suplexed Ripley and exposed two turnbuckle. She sent Ripley spine-first into the bare steel. Storm then hit Moon with a kendo stick.

All six women crashed to the mat in a simultaneous double-team maneuver. Shirai finally came to ringside, and she brought two ladders. But González stopped her from getting into the ring for a few minutes. Team Candice kept blocking Shirai’s attempts to enter the ring. At last, LeRae came to the ring, and Indi Hartwell came out of nowhere to attack Shirai. Hartwell took the key and locked Shirai out of the ring. Team Candice all hit Blackheart with kendo sticks.

Team Candice maintained the numbers advantage, but Shirai jumped off the top of the cage, wearing a garbage can, onto everyone. Shirai and Team Shotzi rallied.

Kai hit a double stomp on Shirai through a trash can. But Moon hit her with a brutal Eclipse on some stairs. Blackheart dove off a ladder onto LeRae, but she landed on a chair, too. In the end, González pinned Shira after she powerbombed her through a ladder.
