‘Young Rock’ TV Series Has Begun Filming In Australia

Young Rock, the NBC series based on the life of Dwayne Johnson, is officially in production. According to a recent announcement from Universal Television, the series has officially started its production in Queensland, Australia.

The show is set to be run by Nahnatchka Khan, the creator of “Fresh Off the Boat.” Johnson is currently set to appear in each episode of the series, although it’s unknown exactly what role he’ll be playing. The show centers around various versions of Johnson as he grows up, with Adrian Groulx playing Johnson at age 10, Bradley Constant playing him at age 15, and Uli Latukefu Johnson playing him from ages 18-20.

Alongside Khan as show runner, Jeff Chiang will be co-executive producing the show, with Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz, and Jennifer Carreras also getting executive producer credits. Episodes will be directed by Australian natives Jeffrey Walker (another co-executive producer) and Daina Reid, although more guest directors may appear.
