ROH Wrestling Results (11/16): Kenny King vs. Shane Taylor

A video promo hypes up a match between Matt Taven and Bateman of The Righteous. Bateman says Taven should have stayed away after Vincent beat him. Taven says he thinks Bateman has no idea what “righteous” really means. He says Bateman isn’t a man who’s avoiding his fate. “Vengeance is coming,” Taven says. He vows that he’ll go through Bateman to get to Vincent.

Backstage, The Briscoes say they’re coming for the ROH Tag Team Championship, but Jay is worried about EC3, so he challenges him to a match next week.

In a video package, Shane Taylor says he’s here to make history. He describes the background he came from, and he says wrestling saved his life. He recaps his history in Ring of Honor and says he’s always been defying the expectations of what a star is supposed to look like. Taylor says his legacy is defined by his ability to get past Kenny King, someone he’s never beaten. Taylor says beating King wll bring him closer to getting a shot at the ROH World Championship.

In another video clip, Kenny King reads a message from La Faccion Ingobernable’s legal representative, who says that they’ll be pursuing legal action against the company for King’s loss in the Pure Tournament. King also recaps how ROH tends to screw him over time and again. He looks back on his history with Shane Taylor and their last match together. King says he won’t give up his spot; instead, he’ll send Taylor to the back of the line.

Kenny King vs. Shane Taylor

King and Taylor feel each other out. Taylor rocks King with a brutal strike and continues to overpower him. He squashes King in the corner and drops him with another forearm. King rallies with some strikes of his own.

Taylor grounds King and floors him with a clothesline. A leg drop earns Taylor a two count. Another nasty forearm sends King onto the apron. He nails King with a headbutt and plants him with a modified Stunner. King takes Taylor down with a spinning heel kick, and he suplexes the big man. He almost steals the win with a roll-up. Taylor floors King with a knee to the head. A package piledriver earns Taylor a near fall. Taylor catches King with Welcome to the Land for the win.
