Damian Priest and Dexter Lumis met in the ring tonight during tonight’s episode of NXT to battle it out for the NXT North American Championship. In a chaotic ending, Cameron Grimes interfered late to attack Lumis, costing him a shot at the title in the process. After the match, however, even more happened, with a title match set for Halloween Havoc being confirmed as well.
During tonight’s title match, Lumis and Priest went back and forth for some time, but it was eventually Priest who walked away thanks to some inadvertent help from Cameron Grimes. Late in the match, the referee was checking on Priest with Lumis laying on the outside of the ropes when Grimes appeared, landing a huge jumping stomp onto Lumis before hiding behind the ring. With Lumis dazed, Priest was easily able to land the South of Heaven on Lumis for the win. After the match, Grimes came into the ring to try and taunt Lumis and attack Priest, but was quickly dispatched by Priest, who hit him with a Reckoning.
After the chaos of the match, Priest began to walk up the ramp, but was attacked by Johnny Gargano, who hit him in the back with a chair. Gargano and Candice LeRae came out to celebrate, but William Regal immediately came out, telling Gargano that he would get a title match against Priest at Halloween Havoc, but that both he and LeRae’s matches would have their stakes upped. Regal then introduced Shotzi Blackheart – the host of Halloween Havoc – who told both Gargano and LeRae that their title matches would be “Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal” matches.
