Sami Zayn says that if he was in charge of WWE, Jey Uso would be winning the World Championship from Roman Reigns.
Recently, Sami Zayn returned to WWE SmackDown, reclaiming his WWE Intercontinental Championship in a wild Triple Threat Ladder Match at WWE Clash of Champions. However, that card was headlined by another WWE SmackDown bout, the highly-emotional match between Roman Reigns and his cousin, Jey Uso, for the WWE Universal Championship.
Speaking with Metro in the UK, Sami Zayn praised that storyline and said that if it was up to him, the tag team specialist would beat “The Big Dog” and become the new top star on WWE SmackDown.
“I just think it’s perfect! I would love for Jey Uso to win the title, I would love it,” he beamed. “If I was doing things around here, Jey Uso would be the champion after Hell In A Cell. It’s so nice to be surprised by something. It’s just perfect. It’s so refreshing – I’d love to see more things that you can’t predict.”
He continued, “I just think one of the most beautiful things is when wrestling can surprise you. If I’d told you two weeks before, hey, the main event of the next pay-per-view – Jey Uso versus Roman Reigns. You just don’t expect it, but then you see it and there’s such a natural story there, and it’s real. It blurs the line of reality and storyline.”
All three men, Sami Zayn, Roman Reigns, and Jey Uso remained on SmackDown following the 2020 WWE Draft, which means at any point, Sami Zayn could be the one defending his championship against Jey Uso.
