Cody Rhodes Wins Back TNT Title, Faces Orange Cassidy Next Week

Cody Rhodes got his rematch for the AEW TNT Championship tonight and it was a dog collar match to up the stakes.

Due to the stipulation, the two men were connected to one another and there was nowhere to hide. Lee was able to open up Rhodes early on and the challenger wore a crimson mask throughout. Both men didn’t let the chain restrict them as they pulled out all the stops during the match and even went for some high flying moves despite the potential damage to their neck.

Lee had the advantage for most of the match as he still had the power advantage against Rhodes despite the former champion bulking up for the rematch. However, Rhodes managed to bust Lee’s face open and then choked him with the chain. Lee would make a comeback with a Boss Man Slam but only got a two count. Rhodes would later hit a remarkable moonsault while chained to his opponent but it wasn’t enough to win back the belt.

Rhodes looked discouraged after he hit a Cross Rhodes and Lee kicked out after just one count by the referee, but he kept fighting. Rhodes hit a superplex but didn’t have the energy to go to the pin after the bump. Rhodes would then hit another Cross Rhodes and that was enough for the win.

Next week, Rhodes will face Orange Cassidy in his first title defense of his second reign.
