Roman Reigns Doesn’t Like CM Punk, But He’d Put That Aside For Business And Good Content

Roman Reigns recognizes a good business decision when it presents itself.

Reigns was a recent guest on Complex’s Load Management podcast and said he’d be open to The Rock and CM Punk as potential opponents in the future. The Rock’s name has been coming up as a potential match for Reigns at WrestleMania 37, and Punk’s return to wrestling has been a hot topic in recent years.

Reigns feels like WWE needs to really invest in building him up to a point where he could in turn build future stars, noting that he’s open to that challenge. He added that it could be The Rock or anyone that could “garner that attention” but he has no doubt that he’s the guy that could be the dominant heel to put up against an “astronomical” Superstar with the right build.

Reigns mentioned CM Punk as a potential opponent, noting that Punk is a name similar to The Rock that resonates with the hardcore fans and general audience and it could be good business despite not personally liking Punk.

“If you’ve watched wrestling for the last 10 to 15 years and you love it, it’s in your blood, you probably have some kind of feelings about [Punk]. I know I do. Just by doing one of these things, he made my job a lot harder years ago. If it’s something the fans can get behind and sink their teeth into the product and dive in, I’m willing to do it. I don’t like the guy—I don’t know many people that do—but I’m willing to put business first and make really good content if it’s the case. He’d probably need to get slapped around a few times in order to get his mind right, but if he’s willing and fans are going to like it, then most likely I’m going to do it.”
