Reported Structural Changes Within NXT UK Include Third-Party Platform Restrictions

wwe nxt uk series

As NXT UK resumes filming new content, new reports have surfaced regarding structural changes to the brand.

NXT UK returned on September 17 after several months without any fresh matchups because of the global coronavirus pandemic. On-screen, the brand is looking to host its first-ever Heritage Cup Tournament but behind the scenes, one producer has left and another has been promoted to the brand’s head writer.

Glen Joseph, who previously was the co-owner of PROGRESS is no longer one of the main producers of NXT UK, according to a new report by Inside The Ropes. NXT UK Superstars were informed of this change in a Zoom meeting earlier today. In addition to that change, Jim Smallman has been promoted to the head writer of NXT UK. While he is the lead creative Force for the brand, Smallman still has to answer to Matt Bloom and Shawn Michaels, who continue to run the brand remotely from America due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions.

This report also notes that talent was informed that they are no longer allowed to sell merchandise or make money from their in-ring names through third-party platforms. This appears to follow the recent trend of American Superstars also being told in a memo by Vince McMahon that they need to cut ties with third-party platforms.
