All Elite Wrestling has filed for its first trademarks related to video gaming and it immediately addresses something long time wrestling gamers have wanted to see make a return to the wrestling game genre.

On Wednesday, September 10, AEW filed for the trademarks “All Elite Wrestling: Elite General Manager” and “Elite GM.” Both trademarks were filed for the following intended uses:

IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: Downloadable game software; Downloadable computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones; Downloadable electronic game software for use on handheld computers and mobile gaming devices; Downloadable video game programs; Recorded video game software

All that is known about AEW’s desires as it relates to the video game space is the project is being headed by Aubrey Edwards, who has worked in gaming in the past, and Kenny Omega who is a massive gamer, and many within the promotion have a desire to see the AKI engine from the Nintendo 64 video games make a return.

WrestleZone will continue to monitor the story and report any and all updates.

The next wrestling game set for release is WWE 2K Battlegrounds. Presenting a more arcade-style game, WWE 2K Battlegrounds launches on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and Stadia this Friday, September 18.
