The Street Profits On Being The Longest-Reigning RAW Tag Team Champions, Being Themselves On RAW

Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, also known as The Street Profits, recently appeared on D-Von Dudley’s Table Talk show, where they reflected on their success as the WWE RAW Tag Team Champions. Here are some highlights.

On being the longest-reigning WWE RAW Tag Team Champions:

Dawkins: “It feels great, I mean, you saying that, that puts it in the word of the day, success, baby. You know what I’m saying? Longest-reigning, that means you successful. Street Profits, we bringing the success baby, we bringing the smoke and success dog, it’s how we roll.”

On the difference between being on NXT and RAW

Ford: “I would say, for us, it’s always been absolutely the same. The reason why I say that is because me and Dawks always have the mentality like this may be the last chance we get to do this. This may be the last chance that anybody could see us, so let’s go out there and make sure every night is like the last night. I think that’s just like our whole mentality the whole time, so to us, it kind of feels pretty much the same, you know? Same mentality, it’s do or die, especially at the time where the world is right now. So we feel like not only is that’s like a responsibility, but it’s a blessing that we’re able to give this energy at this time, so that’s just been our mentality since day one.”

On how they were brought up to RAW with their segments rather than matches:

Ford: “Every night, we wanted to make every single segment different, like different and I remember from us working with Booker T, Ric Flair, like every single segment has been our favorite because we try to make every single one different, you know, whether it’s hyping up this match or doing this match or having this call, just having it different and for us that was a challenge in itself.”

Dawkins: “You gotta also think about it, too, like they were like, ‘Hey we just want y’all to be y’all, talk a lot of smack, do what y’all do,’  so we already do that outside anyway, so it was really easy to step into that role and just stand there and talk. And then we got to have different layers of how we are. For instance, like there was last year at SummerSlam, I was a little dehydrated from partying with Ric Flair too much and they caught me chugging too much water.”

On being themselves on the main roster:

Ford: “For me, personally, I feel like if it was any other way, I’m not sure if it would have worked because, like I said, me and Dawks, even when we formed a tag team, they came to us with the idea, the tag team got formed. But me and Dawks already knew each other beforehand, so the only way I’ve known since we’ve been a tag team is us being us. So like for us to get freedom, I think that’s what really gave us the edge and really helped us because us naturally, just being us all the time.

Dawkins: “Not only that, there’d be even times where I remember NXT, there would be sometimes where we would like try to be a little like not ourselves, I guess and people would know right off the bat. And they were like, ‘Yo what was that?’ They was like, ‘Dawks, I know you don’t say or do stuff like that, for real, like whatcha doin?’
