Earlier this year, R-Truth stood in the ring with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and his advocate, Paul Heyman. In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, R-Truth recapped how he didn’t have a scripted promo for the segment, but Heyman and Lesnar wanted the WWE 24/7 Champion to make the Beast Incarnate laugh. “‘[Heyman] said, “Truth, you’re a funny a guy and we have a bet that you won’t be able to make Brock laugh. I think you can, but they don’t think you can. So just wing it, we’re just going to wing it out there,”‘” said Truth via McCarthy.
At Heyman’s request, Truth wound up winging the segment and he eventually made Lesnar laugh. “‘I remember the moment we’re in the ring and I’m going on and on, making stuff up in my head and going on and on, and I saw when Brock looked at me with that look of ‘what the hell is he talking about?’ because I’m just babbling,'” said Truth via McCarthy. “‘I knew right then I had him. I did all I could to hold myself from laughing when I saw Brock bust out laughing because of Paul Heyman’s facial expression.'”
Truth revealed that, after the segment, Lesnar said he wants to him. “‘I know that’s something we can always go back and pick up,'” said Truth via McCarthy. “‘But that is one of the highest moments in my career right there.'”
The WWE 24/7 Champion also looked back on his match at WWE Survivor Series 2011, when he faced The Rock in a tag team match. “‘I remember when me and Miz, we didn’t say nothing to each other walking through the hallway on the way to gorilla.,'” said Truth via McCarthy. “‘We got in the ring, the smoke cleared and we could see Madison Square Garden was sold out. Packed out.'”
Truth said he’ll never forget that night in Madison Square Garden. “‘To me, that was one of the highest pinnacles of my career,'” said Truth via McCarthy. “‘Just one of the best fulfilled moments where I can pat myself on the back and say I did it.'”
