IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Titles Vacated
Following a six-man tag match on Thursday, Roppongi 3K’s SHO announced that he and his partner YOH will be vacating the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. The announcement comes a little over two months after YOH suffered a torn ACL in his New Japan Cup first round match against BUSHI on June 23rd.
Roppongi 3K won the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Championship on January 5th, and held the titles for 236 days. They defended the belts twice in February against Suzuki-gun’s El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru, as well as the team of Rocky Romero & Ryusuke Taguchi. They had not defended the belts since NJPW resumed touring after their coronavirus hiatus.
NJPW has not made clear their plans to crown new champions.
After SHO's match last night in Korakuen Hall, he declared that he and YOH will be vacating the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.
