Former WWE Divas Champion, AJ Lee, is moving on to the next phase of her career.

AJ Lee retired from WWE in 2015 and in the time since, she has written a best-selling autobiography and co-created some comic books based on the Netflix series GLOW, based on the 1980’s wrestling organization, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

Now, AJ and her partner when creating those comic books, Aimee Garcia, have started their own production company called “Scrappy Heart Productions.” For AJ, this project is a lot about representation in the latinx community.

“Growing up, we didn’t feel represented on screen, so with D.I.Y attitudes, scrappy fighting spirits, and a lot of heart, we worked to become those characters for ourselves. Now, we want to make diverse heroes the stars of their own stories across media and give the next generation the stories we didn’t have,” AJ said in an interview with Variety

Since leaving WWE, AJ Lee has not appeared on any official wrestling programming. However, she was played by Zelina Vega in the motion picture, Fighting with my Family, which was all about the story of WWE Superstar Paige and her family.
