Ember Moon Might Have Wrestled Two Months With Achilles Tear, Still Doesn’t Have A Return Date

Ember Moon says she still doesn’t have a return date after being sidelined with a serious Achilles injury, noting that anything under a two-year return would be a win in her eyes.

The WWE Superstar spoke with ComicBook.com and explained that it’s been “an up and down hill” and it was much more serious than a normal Achilles tear in that hers split in half and tore off of the bone. The injury saw a rupture in two places and her surgeon think she might have actually been wrestling with a tear for about two months.

“What actually happened is that [my Achilles tendon] got split in half and then it also got torn off the bone. So I actually ruptured my Achilles in two places, and the surgeon thinks that I may have been wrestling on it for probably about two months already torn to some extent, and I just didn’t feel the pain because I have kind of a high pain tolerance.”

“It’s been a very rough uphill battle and it sucks. I will say that where I originally had a return date, now I don’t again, because of complications with strength building.”

Moon had to initially stop her physical therapy sessions because of COVID-19 quarantines but is now training at home. Her surgeon told her he only ever saw two similar injuries before, both with soccer players, and that they had recovery times of 20 months and 30 months but she considers anything less than two years a “victory.”

Ember Moon tore her Achilles during a 24/7 Championship backstage segment bit on WWE RAW, later revealing on WWE Backstage that it could potentially be a career-ending injury. She now says a second surgery is possible, but it’s something she’s fighting against it and hopes to keep training for an eventual comeback.

“It’s just a very, very long process and I would love, love, love to have a date back on the board but it’s up in the air,” Moon said. “I’m sitting here and I’m fighting a second surgery. I’m fighting against the second surgery. That’s how bad it is,” she said. When I went on Backstage and I said, ‘I don’t know if I’m ever going to wrestle again,’ I meant what I said and I, I stand by that.”
