Meltzer further said that he isn’t sure if AEW is interested in Tessa but noted that AEW fans usually have different standards for who they sign. Dave mentioned that if WWE were to sign Tessa, most outlets and fans would not make a big deal out of it. However, Dave said that if AEW secured Blanchard, many fans would go ‘crazy’.
Tessa Blanchard has been in Mexico with fiancee Daga and has not been at the recent IMPACT TV Tapings. This led to her release last week just weeks before her contract was set to expire. The two sides had been failing to reach a new agreement. IMPACT was hoping that Blanchard would come back for one more match at Slammiversary, likely to drop her championship.
Blanchard does have some WWE experience under her belt. She wrestled in a few matches with NXT in 2016 and was in the 2017 Mae Young Classic, losing in the first round to Kairi Sane.
