It’s going to be a strange episode of AEW Dynamite with Jon Moxley and QT Marshall getting pulled due to COVID-19 concerns, but let’s get weird and have some fun anyhow.

Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus – Lumberjack Match

Dynamite opened with a battle between two athletic big men. Luchasaurus had the momentum early and Wardlow was in the rare situation of having to work from behind, which made for an interesting dynamic. Prior to the finish, MJF got involved and distracted the referee after Luchasaurus hit a chokeslam. This allowed Wardlow to hit a F-10 and get the victory.

After the match, MJF started attacking Jungle Boy and there was a huge brawl. It’s then announced that MJF & Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy is being made for Fyter Fest.

Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Red Velvet – Non-title match

Shida made easy work of Red Velvet as she hit her Falcon Arrow finisher within seconds. A total squash. She then fought with Penelope Ford in the crowd.

Fyter Fest Press Conference

They showed an awkward fake press conference for Fyter Fest between Cody Rhodes and Jake Hager, who didn’t show up until the staredowns. Arn Anderson spoke about how disrespectful Hager is by no-showing, and then Hager’s wife threw water at Rhodes after the photo opportunity.

Brodie Lee & Colt Cabana vs. Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss

Janela & Kiss have done well in recent weeks and went up against a makeshift team in Lee & Cabana, who is trying to be lured into the Dark Order. Janela & Kiss certainly had more chemistry together but interference from the Dark Order helped their opponents on multiple occasions. Lee would hit a Discus Lariat on Janela and allowed Cabana to pin him for the victory.

Lance Archer then came out and beat up Janela & Kiss.

SCU vs. FTR

FTR drove a truck near the ring, which is a cool entrance that helps them feel like more than just another team on the roster. The two teams went back-and-forth but FTR held their own against the former tag team champions. The newcomers were willing to bend the rules a bit behind the back of the ref but their technical skills were mostly on display. The end came after a Good Night Express was hit on Christopher Daniels. They move to 2-0 inside AEW.

FTR then cut a promo calling out the Young Bucks, Jurassic Express and Santana & Ortiz. Butcher & The Blade then stole FTR’s truck and challenged them to an eight-man tag at Fyter Fest: FTR & The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Bros & The Butcher & The Blade.

Brian Cage vs. Jon Cruz

This was as one-sided as you’d expect. Cage destroyed Cruz with a Drill Claw. Taz then cut a promo on Moxley and asked the champ if he can stop the path of Cage.

Broken Matt Hardy vs. Santana

Fans voted in Broken Matt Hardy into the match rather than his other gimmicks. Santana was cheered on by his teammate Ortiz but Hardy showed his veteran savvy during the bout. Hardy would win after reversing a pinfall attempt by Santana.

Ortiz would then come in and whip Hardy with a belt. Private Party made the save.
