Kurt Angle: ‘I Think The PG Era Is Good For Wrestling’

Kurt Angle recently used his Facebook page to hold a question and answer session with fans. He discussed several topics, ranging from his storyline with Jason Jordan to his thoughts the PG Era. Here are some highlights:

On getting booed despite being an Olympic gold medalist:

Angle: “I guess I did my job…LOL. I liked being the villain, it was fun. I got to be very funny and make an ass out of myself. I secured many great moments both as a heel and as a babyface.”

On which recent cinematic matches he has enjoyed the most:

Angle: “Firefly Funhouse and Randy vs Edge. But the Taker vs AJ match was my favorite because Taker deserved a match like that near the end of his career. I suggested he face AJ at Mania last year. I guess he thought it was a great idea.”

On the PG Era:

Angle: “I think the PG Era is good for wrestling. I understand that we had more creative control over our characters before PG, but the fact that the PG Era came around has helped the wrestlers stay healthier. Drug tests, physicals, doctors, trainers, have become important to taking care of the health of superstars. The attitude era was special, but the wrestlers did not have the benefits of what these superstars have today. PG Era needed to happen. Plus the fact that WWE is marketing to families instead of young adults.”

On how his angle with Jason Jordan was supposed to end:

Angle: “I’d imagine that Jason and I would have wrestled at WrestleMania.”

On remaining committed to his career as a wrestler and whether he would have pursued another profession:

Angle:  “I would have chosen acting. That’s part of the reason I started pro wrestling. Then I fell in love with it and stayed in it for over 20 years. I never questioned my decision.”

On a fight with the Iron Sheik:

Angle: “Sheik is crazy. I like him a lot. I’d rather have a glass of milk with the Legend, than fight him.”
