Adam Cole Retains NXT Championship In Chaotic Backlot Brawl Against Velveteen Dream

At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Adam Cole defended the NXT Championship against the Velveteen Dream in a Backlot Brawl match. Cole entered the arena in an Undisputed Era truck. Dream drove up in a fancy sports car. He was carrying a baseball bat. The referee explained the rules and said that anything goes, though the match must end in the ring.

Dream dropped the bat because Cole told him to fight like a man. Cole swung his title at Dream, who ducked and almost stole the win with a few pin attempts. The champion floored Dream with a big boot. Cole grabbed his title and tried to leave in a car. Dream stood on the car and hit it with a baseball bat several times. An Uber driver pulled up and the fight briefly spilled into the vehicle. Cole tried to walk away again and he hid from Dream. The champion sprayed Dream with a fire extinguisher to gain the upper hand. Cole dropped Dream with a boot to the face. Dream rammed Cole face-first into the ring post. Cole caught Dream in mid-air with a superkick, but Dream returned the favor. The challenger slammed Cole onto the hood of a car. Dream grabbed a ladder -, but the Undisputed Era blinded him with the headlights of their car. Dream still sent Cole crashing off a ladder and onto a windshield. The Undisputed Era ganged up on Dream while Cole laid on the car with a bleeding arm. Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong tossed many chairs into the ring . But Dexter Lumis emerged from beneath the ring and attacked Fish and Strong.

Lumis locked both men into their trunk and drove away. Cole slowly returned to the ring, but Dream countered a Panama Sunrise into the Dream Valley driver for a near fall. The challenger hit a Purple Rainmaker with Cole sitting in a chair for another two count. Cole hit Dream below the belt and hit a Panama Sunrise onto several chairs for the win. With the loss, Dream can never challenge for the title again as long as Cole is the champion.
