Cain Velasquez is not done with the squared circle. Some might say he hasn’t even begun. The MMA legend had what was basically a cup of coffee in WWE before the global pandemic convinced them to negate his big-money deal. Speaking with combat sports analysis Luke Thomas, Velasquez’s coach says that he is sticking with professional wrestling and won’t return to UFC:
Just spoke to Javier Mendez of AKA. We talked about a lot, but I asked if Cain Velasquez could return to MMA/UFC given reports he'd been released by WWE. Mendez said that was not going to happen. "He's wrestling," he said. #TLTS @MMAonSiriusXM

Before signing with WWE, Velasquez showed off a lot of talent in several matches in Mexico. He has yet to show that talent to an American audience, as his one match in WWE ended up as a one-sided affair against Brock Lesnar. AEW was interested in bringing him in before he signed, so that could be a place he could let loose, but there are plenty of other organizations that would surely be delighted to bring him in.
Velasques is currently 37, but his MMA career left him with several lingering injuries that could prove detrimental to a rigorous schedule. As wrestling returns to some sort of normalcy in the bizarro world that is Florida, we’ll have to see where Cardio Cain pops up next.
