Samoa Joe Returning To The WWE RAW Commentary Team

Samoa Joe is returning—to the commentary table.

According to a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, Samoa Joe will be rejoining the RAW commentary team while he waits to return to the ring.

WWE is filming two episodes of RAW tonight and it was noted that Joe is at today’s tapings to record commentary for “at least one” of the shows being taped. Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips and Jerry Lawler currently make up the RAW commentary team; it’s unknown if Joe will be replacing one of them, or if WWE will just go with a four-man booth instead.

Fans may remember that Joe does have some previous commentary experience, as he had a short run last year while rehabbing an injury. Joe left the RAW broadcast booth once he was cleared for in-ring competition but has not been seen on WWE TV much since February. Samoa Joe was injured during a commercial shoot that month, and he was later suspended for a WWE Wellness Policy violation.

There’s no word on when Joe will be cleared for the ring, but the initial report in February stated he could miss “a considerable amount of time.”
