Vince McMahon Says New Talent Is Why RAW Viewership Is Down, Not Empty Shows

WWE RAW Results

During the WWE Q1 2020 financial call, Vince McMahon was asked about lower television ratings during the coronavirus pandemic. McMahon says that despite being one of the few sporting-centric shows currently happening, viewership has dropped to new lows for RAW while SmackDown has stayed relatively steady.

McMahon says that it’s due to RAW having a newer roster full of fresh talent and doesn’t blame the empty arenas, although he admits they have had to learn what works and doesn’t in a new environment. “It takes a lot to get these new talent over,” said McMahon. “We no longer have Brock Lesnar anymore, obviously.”

RAW most recently hit a yearly low as it was well below 2 million viewers averaged over three hours. This week, WWE RAW viewership averaged 1.842 million viewers, which is down from last week’s 1.913 million viewers. It still came in at 1st, 2nd, and 4th place for its first, second, and third hours, respectively.
