Another Current WWE Champion Not Working WrestleMania 36 Match (SPOILER)

SPOILER WARNING

The status of WrestleMania 36 is shifting almost as much as the pandemic that moved it from Raymond James Stadium to the Performance Center. Sources speaking to PWInsider have revealed that current United States Champion Andrade will not be able to compete in his RAW Tag Team Title match against The Street Profits. However, for once, it’s not due to concern about contracting COVID-19.

Andrade is believed to have suffered a rib injury on this week’s episode of RAW, the angle that set up the tag match. He was not medically cleared to compete and missed both days of the WrestleMania taping. His match did take place, and PWInsider reports that a member of the NXT roster stepped in to team with Angel Garza.

The tag title match was itself a replacement for a match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade for his US Championship. Rey went into quarantine as the Performance Center tapings got underway, meaning that Andrade had nothing to do on the card. Now, both members of the original match are off Mania.

Update: POST Wrestling is reporting NXT’s Austin Theory will be Andrade’s replacement in the match. A new angle was reportedly shot this week where Theory will be introduced as the replacement partner, and it will air on Monday’s episode of RAW.
