Cobb was announced as Jon Moxley’s opponent for next week’s show by Chris Jericho, who brought Cobb in as a “hired gun” for the Inner Circle. Cobb ended up appearing at the end of the broadcast, attacking Moxley and laying him out after hitting him with his Tour Of The Islands finisher.
PWInsider.com is reporting Cobb is still technically a free agent, despite his appearance on last night’s show. Cobb, a former ROH World Television Champion, is still set to work some dates for Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Cobb’s deal with ROH expired at the end of 2019 and it was noted that as of press time he hadn’t signed with AEW, and had been working with ROH on a per-show basis. It was also noted that despite Cobb’s debut last night and ties to ROH and NJPW, this should not be taken as a sign that AEW has a working relationship with either promotion.
Pro Wrestling Sheet‘s Ryan Satin is also reporting Cobb’s agreement with AEW might only be for a few appearances at this time. Sources close to the situation claimed he was only booked for a few shows, one of which is his match against Moxley next week.
Cobb made a name for himself as Matanza Cueto in Lucha Underground, and he has worked under his real name since then for Ring Of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, among other independent promotions.
Cobb has been active on social media since his AEW debut last night, responding to some questions that call his status into question even more. Cobb responded to a fan sarcastically asking who he was by saying he’s “the guy that’s getting paid”, and asked another poster that said he’d signed with AEW how he got all the “scoops.”
Man how do you get all the “scoops”? Lol

Cobb is still set to team with Dan Maff at Ring Of Honor’s Supercard Of Honor XIV event against KENTA and Taiki Ishimori on April 4th in Lakeland, FL. He will face off with Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
