More Details On Edge’s WWE Contract, Past AEW Talks, Rumored WrestleMania Match

Edge made his amazing return to in-ring action last night during the Royal Rumble match, leading to speculation as to how often we’ll see him back in the ring.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Edge’s new deal is a multi-year contract (WrestleVotes reports it’s for three years) that allows him to work a few matches per year with a number of televised appearances as well. It was noted that negotiations with WWE began as far back as in August. Pro Wrestling Sheet also has independently confirmed our initial report about Edge having contract talks with All Elite Wrestling, and notes that while he ultimately decided to come back to WWE, AEW made a “serious offer” for Edge to have some matches and work as an agent.

One of the matches that Edge is expected to have is at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa. He’s still listed as a free agent on the WWE website, but there’s been plenty of speculation as to who he would face at the event.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, WWE already has an opponent lined up in Randy Orton, while Pro Wrestling Sheet noted Edge is rumored to be facing someone from the RAW brand at WrestleMania. Wrestlezone also learned there were two other names suggested during early talks regarding an opponent, but it was not made clear to us if or when Orton’s name was added to the list of potential opponents.
