“The Ace” wants to catch a royal flush on the river and bridge the gap between New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.
In a recent article by Tokyo Sports, Hiroshi Tanahashi is not only looking to defeat Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 14 this January, but hopes that such a victory could lead to other opportunities such as challenging Jericho for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
Jericho hasn’t wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling since June when he challenged Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in a losing effort. Since then, he did return to make an appearance at Power Struggle to challenge Tanahashi for an upcoming match.
Chris Jericho will join budding AEW rival (or potential new Inner Circle member) Jon Moxley as the only two AEW competitors competing on the Wrestle Kingdom card. Moxley will be facing IWGP United States Champion Lance Archer in a Texas Deathmatch.
