Arn Anderson On Why A Great Tag Team Match Is Impossible To Follow, The ‘OVW’ Generation’s Success

Arn Anderson was the special guest of Wrestlezone’s Kevin Kellam right before Starrcast IV gets underway and ‘The Enforcer’ was asked about his time being a producer in WWE for the better part of two decades. Arn shared what he considered as one of the highlights he had during that tenure and it included helping bring in the new crop of stars post-Attitude Era.

“I was very fortunate at the point and time when Dave Bautista, John Cena, Randy Orton were pretty much designated the next generation of superstars that I was able to work with all those guys, a lot and I was there from their inception and was able to help guide them. They’re all so different and they all contributed so much to the industry and they’re still contributing to it here and there.”

Arn goes on to praise Cena for his record-breaking work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“To see John Cena for one, to be so active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation. That’s pretty incredible that he’s the number one Wish giver and he doesn’t have any children which let you know a little bit what kind of guy he is if you just think about that for a second.”

Asked if he can pick up on any tells as to what agent is producing a match, Arn always notices Fit Finlay’s handiwork:

“They’re all incredible in their own way, but the one you can really pick out is Fit Finlay because he is such a vicious prick himself. You can see him adding that little touch, ‘That’s Fit.’”

Being a tag team veteran himself, Anderson also spoke about why he believes a well-planned and orchestrated tag match could be impossible to top on any card.

“For me, I’d rather be in a tag match and I firmly believe this—you have the right four guys and you have the right story and you have heel champions that are holding the belts, a tag team match is impossible. If it’s done the right way and you have enough time, it’s impossible to follow on the card and I truly believe that, but you gotta have all the right components. Even a world title match is impossible to follow a great tag match because there are so many things you can do to create drama if it’s done the right way. So I would prefer if I had my brothers, to be in a tag match all the time.”
