Former RAW general manager Kurt Angle is back in a position of power, but this time, it’s behind the scenes. As reported by PWInsider, the Olympic gold medalist has been shadowing other producers backstage at RAW in recent times, and he’s recently stepped into the role himself. He announced the move himself in an interview with Wrestling Inc earlier this year, but Angle was backstage at this week’s Madison Square Garden show and will be a producer on the red brand going forward.
Kurt Angle was last seen in the ring in a losing effort against Baron Corbin at this year’s Wrestlemania in a retirement match. With his in-ring days behind him, Kurt seems to be making the transition to fully backstage work. While it’s always possible to imagine him in a managerial role in the future, we’ll probably only see Angle in brief backstage glimpses in the immediate future.
