Ric Flair Files To Trademark ‘The Man’ Phrase

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has filed to trademark the nickname/slogan/phrase “The Man”. The application notes that the name would be used for entertainment services including wrestling exhibitions, live appearances, and performances.

RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has been using that nickname for quite some time now and it will be interesting to see what decision is made on the pending application. Lynch commented on The Man nickname a few months ago by saying, “I took that top spot, when I said, ‘I’m the top dog, I’m the top star, I’m the face of this company,’ I am now ‘The Man,’ and that’s how it came about.”

The full description provided with the application states the following:

Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions, live appearances and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media, namely, television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; Providing a website in the field of sports entertainment; Fan club services; organizing and staging entertainment events with wrestling fan club members; Providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; Online journals, namely, blogs, in the fields of sports entertainment.
