Ali came out tonight and did just enough to advance in the King of the Ring tournament, grabbing a huge victory over Buddy Murphy on SmackDown Live. Although Murphy and Ali kept things pretty close throughout the match, it was Ali who was able to come away with the win, nailing a huge 450 splash on Murphy to close things out and grab the win. After the match, Murphy was upset, but not mad at Ali. He congratulated Ali and the two even shook hands, with Murphy lifting up Ali’s arms and celebrating with him.
Later on in the night, Chad Gable scored a surprise victory in the tournament, taking a victory over Shelton Benjamin and advancing into the next round as well. Now, both competitors will be facing much tougher superstars, and will need to bring their A-game if they want to make it to the Finals.
It's all about taking one step closer to the THRONE.
