Daniel Bryan On What He Misses About Indie Wrestling, What Luchadors He Wants In WWE

Daniel Bryan recently spoke to Super Luchas (article in Spanish) and discussed a number of interesting topics. Among them were his enjoyment of wrestling since coming out of retirement, what he misses about the indie scene and what luchadors he wants to face.

Check out highlights below:

The biggest difference between now and before he retired:

It’s interesting, because now I’m having a lot more fun because I already fought again with joy, and that I had [lost it]. Even with the character I have, I have a lot of fun, because I’ve always loved to wrestle. But I feel that since I came back I can’t press myself. I go out and do the things that I have loved since I was a child, knowing that I have more balance in my personal life with my wife and daughter, so the whole process is more enjoyable.

What he misses about the independent scene:

Yes … I really miss all that. And one of the things I miss is fighting with different people. Being independent you can fight with people you’ve never faced before, and that’s something I like. For example, on SmackDown I struggled with Buddy Murphy, and I was very excited, because I had never fought him.

As an independent fighter, my mind was always working. ‘I don’t know who this guy is, I don’t know what he does, I’ve never been in this arena.’ I like those experiences.

On what luchadors he wants to see in WWE:

It is really difficult to choose, because my favorites are now too old to go to WWE. I could say: ‘Wait a minute, I want Negro Casas in WWE’ or something, because I love Blue Panther, I love Negro Casas. The first time I saw a fight of his was about 1987, but he is amazing. In 2019 he is still impressive.

Then I have a lot of respect for them, but thinking about who could do it now in WWE, I could tell someone like Rush. I think Bandido would do it big; Also Dragon Lee could succeed. There are many, but we already have Andrade, who is fantastic! And I hate to say it, but even if I say, ‘Oh, we need to bring this guy to WWE,’ it could be argued that we already have several that are spectacular, like Gran Metalik, which is one reason [to watch] 205 Live. Great Metalik is fantastic!
