Tony Schiavone Joins AEW Broadcast Team In Multi-Year Deal

In what can best be described as a highly anticipated puzzle piece finally falling into place, the voice of wrestling on TNT has joined All Elite Wrestling. Veteran announcer Tony Schiavone has signed a multi-year deal with AEW, allowing him to join their TV broadcast team alongside WWE veteran Jim Ross and Excalibur. Tony will also be serving the company as a senior producer behind the scenes.

AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes had this to say about the signing.

Tony ‘The Silver Tongue’ Schiavone was the lead voice of pro wrestling at a time when it was dominating the globe. It’s a pleasure to have him join AEW as a senior producer and member of the broadcast team. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a UGA fan either. I think Tony is one of the most underrated lead men with the narrative of pro wrestling there’s ever been. I’m thrilled to get into the studio with him.

In addition to his AEW duties, the company has announced that Tony will continue his role as producer for the University of Georgia Football and Baseball Network, and will call the play-by-play for the Atlanta Braves’ Triple A team, the Gwinnett Stripers. In a separate report, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has stated that he’ll also continue his announcing duties for MLW for the time being.
