Kushida came away with a big victory at Evolve 133 tonight, taking down JD Drake with the Sakuraba Lock in thrilling fashion. After the victory, Kushida was surprised by Alex Shelley, his former partner from New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The duo – who were known as the Time Splitters – were able to briefly reunite and get to see each other. With Kushida in NXT and Shelley in Ring of Honor, the two being able to give the fans a memorable experience was an amazing touch for Evolve 133.
During their time in NJPW, the duo was a major part of the company, winning the 2012 Super Jr. Tag Team Tournament, as well as the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Championships in their time with the company. While it’s unlikely the two will be wrestling together anytime soon, just the fact that they were able to see each other is surely a special moment.
